The Quiet Place

Every true action begins and ends in the same place.
I call it the Quiet Place.
It is not a corner of the room. It is a construct of the mind, linked to the center each of us must discover inside the body. In the Quiet Place there is nothing left to achieve. No need to act, no need to fill the silence, no need to prove. From there the performer becomes the absolute observer of what is happening around them and to them. Every impulse starts there. Every finished action returns there.
This is the foundation of presence.
Yet here lies the wicked paradox of the work: the more fully the performer is aware of every component of stage presence — the stage environment, the audience environment, the breath, the magnetic pull between partners and objects — the greater the demand for authenticity. Awareness must become so complete that it disappears into behavior that feels effortless, inevitable, true.
Without breath there is no Now.
Without the Quiet Place there is no ground from which authentic action can arise.
Cycle One of The Seven Cycles of You offers this ground: the Quiet Place itself, the seven Pranayama that steady and heighten the instrument, and the seven psychological mantras that open the pre-expression state — that alert readiness in which the body is prepared to be surprised.
Try this now, if you wish.
Sit or stand comfortably. Close your eyes for a moment. Sense the Quiet Place inside you — the still center from which you can observe without the need to act. Take one slow, complete breath.
On the exhale, silently say: I am the reality I am witnessing. Open your eyes. Notice what is already present.
That is enough for today.
The free studio sample of Cycle One is available now. It contains the full set of breathing practices and the mantras. The remaining six cycles — memory, the performance walk, mapping the body, claiming space, the release ritual, and the final integration that is You — live only in the complete method.
This sample is offered so you can feel the ground under your feet before you walk the full path.
Breath.
Memory. Walk. Stillness. Space. Release. You.
The method turns presence into craft.
The living instrument is already yours.
